What is the Purpose of Affirmation Quotes?

Your thoughts are what create your life. They create your present life and your future life.

Two people can have the exact same experience. One can enjoy it and feel good and the other doesn’t and feels bad. Therefore, the experience is unimportant. What is important is how you perceive it. If you have a positive outlet and focus on the positive sides of the experience, then you are happy. If you focus on the negative side, then you are sad. You have a lot of control over what you are feeling at every given moment. However, sometimes negative thoughts enter our heads and we can’t seem to get rid of them. They make us sad and feel powerless.

That is where positive affirmations can help. If we recite them, even if we don’t believe what we are saying we will eventually change our thoughts. As the saying goes, “Fake it until you make it”.

According to Louise Hay, in her book “You can heal your life”, your thoughts create your reality. If you are having negative thoughts this will affect both your mental health and your physical health. When you are having negative thoughts (such as trying to understand why you have certain problems) the focus is on the problem which is something negative. For example, if you are trying to understand why you are overweight or why you don’t have enough money then you are focusing on something negative. Since you manifest whatever you think, too much negative thinking will bring negativity into your life. Whatever your problem is the best way to solve it is to love yourself. The secret to loving yourself is learning to think in positive affirmations. The author suggests a simple solution to overcome any problem. Turning all those negative statements into positive affirmations: I have a healthy body, I am successful, I am lovable, I am a positive person. When you frame your situation in a positive way, you’re focusing your attention in the right direction. Always state your affirmations in the present tense. If you state your affirmations in the future tense then your subconscious will keep putting it off.

As “The Secret”, by Rhonda Byrne, explains, “The law of attraction says that like attracts like, and so as you think a thought, you are also attracting like thoughts to you.” When you start thinking negative thoughts you let more negative thoughts into your mind and that changes your mindset. However, when you express positive thoughts you let more positive thoughts into your mind and this changes your entire outlook.

“Everything that’s coming into your life you are attracting into your life. And it’s attracted to you by virtue of the images you’re holding in your mind. It’s what you’re thinking. Whatever is going on in your mind you are attracting to you.” Bob Proctor

“Our job as humans is to hold on to the thoughts of what we want, make it absolutely clear in our minds what we want, and from that, we start to invoke one of the greatest laws in the Universe, and that’s the law of attraction. You become what you think about most, but you also attract what you think about most.” John Assaraf

As Mike Dooley states, Thoughts become things!

How do our Thoughts affect our Feelings?

Your thoughts cause your feelings. Good feelings make you feel good. Feelings that don’t empower you are bad feelings. If you change your emotions you can change your life. If you are feeling good and don’t allow that to change, then you will keep attracting good things.

“Once you begin to understand and truly master your thoughts and feelings, that’s when you see how you create your own reality. That’s where your freedom is, that’s where all your power is.” Marci Shimoff

If you feel bad and don’t make any effort to change these thoughts, then you will continue feeling bad. If you let positive thoughts in your mind then you will feel good.

How Often Should We Repeat Positive Affirmation Quotes?

If we force ourselves to say positive things every single day, we will change our mindset and our outlook. We will become more positive and therefore positive things will happen to us. That is the power of affirmations. That is why we should force ourselves to recite positive messages and ideas even if we are not necessarily feeling them naturally.

Therefore, spend a few minutes every day repeating daily affirmations to change your thoughts.

What happens during the rest of the day?

When you are not forcing yourself to repeat self-affirmation quotes, negative thoughts are bound to pop into your head. It’s natural. Therefore, whenever you have a negative thought, you should immediately recite a positive affirmation. Even better, recite 5 positive affirmations for every negative thought that pops into your mind.

“Here’s the problem. Most people are thinking about what they don’t want, and they’re wondering why it shows up over and over again.” John Assaraf

So, try to focus on positive thoughts as much as possible. You have the power to change your thoughts and your feelings. Even if negative thoughts might pop up in your mind, you have the power to offset them by reciting positive affirmations.

Create a notebook, or journal full of affirmations or create positive affirmation cards and carry it with you through the day. You want to have the affirmations nearby to repeat when you are feeling negative or just need a positive boost.
